Stockton’s finest, Nate Diaz has fired back at both Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson following the pair’s colourful social-media exchange last week.
It’s been an unusually quiet time for the brothers Diaz but even though it has seemed like an age since we have seen either man inside the octagon, both siblings – and Nate in particular – have not been overly quiet in recent times.
Of course, Nick seems content to live the high-life that his years of fighting at the top have earned him, but still, with many fans clamouring to see him come back, it’s pretty surprising how inactive he has been since his last outing.
As for Nate, we all know what fight he wants. After his UFC 196 and UFC 202 showdowns with the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor, he hasn’t seemed even slightly interested in taking on another top-contender at 155lbs and though there are many matchups that would work an absolute treat for the former-Ultimate Fighter winner, he – like his brother Nick – apparently will not budge until the correct pay-figure or opponent is found.
Tony Ferguson established himself as the number one lightweight contender on the planet following his win over Kevin Lee at UFC 216, and while many were surprised by the champ McGregor’s lack of comment on the win, the social media post that eventually followed his quiet-spell managed to catch like wildfire.
Tony’s response, though as bizarre and zaney as the man who gave it, also went down a treat.
Not wanting to be left out, Nate Diaz managed to bounce back with his own Grand Theft Auto-style offering, and without reading into things too much, it does seem as though both Ferguson and his heated rival McGregor are still in his sights.
