Conor McGregor has called on the CEO of ONE Championship to sign the UFC flyweights who look set to be cut from the promotion’s roster.
The potential for the UFC to axe the flyweight division is a looming fear that has been on the cards for quite some time now, but when Demetrious Johnson finally made the move to ONE Championship in a groundbreaking trade deal, it was almost as if the 125lb presence in the UFC had signed its death warrant.
Now, Demetrious has found a new home in the Asian promotion in a switch that saw the unbeaten wrestler Ben Askren sign to finally fight in the UFC.
With the seemingly inevitable shutting down of the flyweight division, many of the currently rostered 125lb-rs have been cut.
Conor McGregor took to his official Twitter page to call on ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong to sign these fighters because of his decision to sign Mighty Mouse in the first place.
You must now take all the 125lbers that have been let go, Chatri.
You talk all of this Martial Art and respect talk, yet your greed has directly cost more than half a fighting division it’s chance to earn income for their family.
Have respect @YODCHATRI.

Chatri has actually made it clear that he intends on speaking to the top level flyweights, telling BJPenn.com the following:
“If it’s really true that UFC is going to close down their flyweight division, then, of course, we will talk to all the top flyweights.”
