Kyoji Horiguchi moved to a perfect 9-0 under the RIZIN banner with a first-round TKO of the former UFC flyweight Ben Nguyen.
Horiguchi’s status as one of the very best flyweights in the sport had been clear for quite some time, but since his move to the RIZIN bantamweight division, we’ve really started to see this guy’s talent shine through.
His thrilling kickboxing showdown with Tenshin Nasukawa aside, Horiguchi has posted a perfect 9-0 record in his new home – finishing seven of those wins, with his most notable victory coming against Bellator bantamweight champion Darrion Caldwell.
Today, he stepped in against the former UFC star Ben Nguyen – a man who had posted a 4-3 record in the organisation before being released after a loss to Wilson Reis.
It didn’t take long for The Gooch to remind everyone exactly why he is seen as one of the finest fighters in the game outside of the UFC as he beat Nguyen down with a brutal barrage of strikes – something that forced the referee to intervene and call the fight there and then.
Kyoji Horiguchi (27-2) ratchets his reign of terror to 12 straight bouts, brutalizing Ben Nguyen in less than three minutes! Now 9-0 in RIZIN with seven finishes, the JMMA king owns 14 knockouts. #RIZIN15 #RIZINFF #RIZIN2019 pic.twitter.com/ScxEmIHAZJ
