UFC 223’s main-event headliners Khabib Nurmagomedov and Max Holloway faced off for the first time at the event’s pre-fight press conference last night.
Khabib Nurmagomedov was a picture of supreme confidence as he met with his UFC 223 opponent Max Holloway last night for the ceremonial pre-fight press conference.
He has every right to be, of course. In taking on the featherweight champion of the world, Khabib takes the advantage in size, strength and, of course, preparation and while Holloway is certainly in that ‘elite’ category as a result of his accomplishments, it really does look as though this is the Russian’s fight to lose.
To achieve the level of dominance that he has been able to so consistently impose on his opponents requires a level of both determination and talent that we seldom see and with 25 career wins in his back pocket, Tony Ferguson’s late injury seems to have allowed the stars to align and grant the Russian an easier matchup.
Or so it would seem on paper.
Holloway has a lot of asterisks beside his name in taking this fight but we should never forget that he is a champion for a reason.
Both guys squared off after yesterday night’s entertaining UFC 223 pre-fight press conference and the video of the face-off can be seen below:
