The former UFC interim-lightweight title challenger Kevin Lee will make his welterweight debut at UFC Rochester, taking on Rafael dos Anjos in the main-event.
Lee is a prime example of one of those fighters who would thrive with the implementation of a 165lb weight-class.
On the heavy side amongst all of those at 155lbs, The Motown Phenom’s height and rangey frame should allow him to perform better at 170lbs and by the looks of things, he’ll have the perfect opponent to test himself against.

The former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is still amongst the greatest lightweights to ever do it in the UFC, but when he made his climb up to the heavier division, one of the most impressive things about his transition was his ability to redefine his fighting style in there.
Dos Anjos’ last two outings saw him lose out on the cards to the reigning champion Kamaru Usman and the former interim champ Colby Covington. Not devastating losses by any means but he will for sure know that a win over Lee could be a huge boost for his still healthy title-ambitions.
Lee suffered a defeat – albeit a thrilling one – against Al Iaquinta last time around, a loss that stood as his second in his last three. Iaquinta was able to move to 2-0 over the 26-year-old, closing out their rivalry with a showing that no doubt helped him to earn his massive fight against Donald Cerrone at UFC Ottawa.
For Lee, there has always been the sense that his progress had been hindered by his strenuous cut down to 155lbs and now, remembering that he is still only 26, one would have to assume that we’re about to see the very best from this undoubtedly formidable athlete.
