Hotly-tipped prospect Calvin Kattar managed to blast through former Cage Warriors champion Chris Fishgold in the very first-round at UFC Moncton.
Kattar entered last night’s contest with a 2-1 UFC record – with his sole loss in the promotion coming at the hands of no. 4 ranked contender Renato Moicano.
He has been gaining momentum steadily since signing for the UFC, though, appearing on several of the biggest fight-cards of the last two years.
Facing newcomer and former Cage Warriors champion Chris Fishgold, he was able to get the job done early against a very dangerous opponent to push himself back into that win column.

Featherweight is among the strongest divisions on the UFC roster at the moment and with this latest win, you’d expect that Kattar will be within touching distance of a ranked opponent.
Things could look very different at 145lbs by the time the new year comes around as champion Max Holloway defends his title against the incredibly dangerous talent that is Brian Ortega but if one thing is for certain for the winner, it’s that 2019 will see several worthy new challengers emerge through the featherweight ranks.
