According to reports, the UFC are potentially looking to book Justin Gaethje for a showdown with the former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.
Brett Okamoto of ESPN was the first to break the report and while there is nothing in the way of specifics given, the fight would certainly make sense for both guys at this point.
Per multiple sources, UFC looking to book Justin Gaethje vs. Anthony Pettis. It's not done and there's no date just yet, but that's the matchup currently in the works. Would be early next year.

Gaethje’s last outing saw him steamroll the hotly-tipped rising prospect James Vick in the very first round. The man has been a massive hit since signing for the UFC from WSOF, providing us with several instant-classics all while establishing himself as one of the most game fighters of the modern era.
Anthony Pettis will feel unlucky to have lost out to Tony Ferguson at UFC 229 by way of a second-round stoppage in between rounds. He had his moments in the fight but broke his hand midway through the exhilarating bout.
If the UFC do decide to make this fight, it has every chance of being another Fight of the Year contender.
