Justin Gaethje To Face James Vick at UFC Lincoln

Justin Gaethje lost out on his opportunity to face Al Iaquinta at UFC Lincoln after he pulled out of the fight, but now, a replacement has been found.

After Al Iaquinta pulled from his highly-anticipated showdown with Justin Gaethje for undisclosed reasons, it only took a matter of hours for the UFC to bring in a replacement in the form of the in-form James Vick.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN reported the news first:

Vick, who will be known to Irish fans for his brutal UFC 217 KO of Joe Duffy, has been calling for a top-10 opponent for what seems like an eternity and no doubt jumped on the opportunity to face an opponent of Gaethje’s calibre as soon as the opportunity came about.

Gaethje has endeared himself and become a true favourite of the fans of MMA after just three fights inside the UFC octagon. As the former WSOF lightweight champion, ‘The Highlight’ came into the world’s premier MMA promotion with an unbeaten record – and while he has gone 1-2 since joining, every single fight so far that he has been a part of has been a bonafide classic.

August 25 is the date and the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska is the venue.

This is a truly riveting stylistic matchup and a fight with the potential to earn one of these men a shot at a top-5 fighter.
