Jon Jones Teases Third Fight With Daniel Cormier After UFC 226

Jon Jones took to Twitter today to hit back at his rival Daniel Cormier, who had compared him unfavourably to cyclist Lance Armstrong in a recent interview.

Following comments made by the reigning UFC 205lb champion Cormier, Jon Jones has fired back. For a rivalry that appeared to be done and dusted with Jones’ TKO victory, both men have been poking at each other frequently.

DC spoke on CBS Radio and made a comparison between the troubled former-champ Jones and the disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong, who was found have used steroids during his legendary but infamous run in the sport.

“[Jones] doesn’t have a platform and I refuse to give him a platform. He’s a nobody. He has been suspended again. He’s mired in controversy for drug abuse. Your issues are tied to steroids, performance enhancers.

“You don’t get a platform when you’re like that. It’s like me glorifying Lance Armstrong.”

Taking to Twitter, Jones took some digs at Cormier in the way only a true rival could do. The animosity between these men is as real as any feud we’ve ever seen in sports and you can feel it from the barbed jabs ‘Bones’ takes here.

With Daniel set to fight Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 in a super-fight for the heavyweight title, Jon went on to tease the idea of a third fight with the current champion.

Cormier vs. Jones III? It might not make sense when you look at the past records but believe me, it would be as anticipated as any fight on any given calendar year if it does get put together.

A lot will hinge on what transpires inside the octagon on July 7, though.
