The newly-crowned UFC light-heavyweight champion of the world has suggested that he is preparing for a title-defence against streaking contender Anthony Smith.
Whether you love him or hate him, it’s hard to deny that the UFC is a better place with the recrowned king of the 205lb division Jon Jones.
Of course, his problems outside of the octagon have stunted his progress to a certain extent but with his UFC 232 return against the Swede Alexander Gustafsson, he reminded the world exactly why he is widely regarded as the most talented fighter in the history of mixed martial arts.
Overall, it was a flawless performance.
In their first meeting back in 2013, the height and length of Gus seemed to confuse Jon to a certain extent and the resulting bout has been seen as one of the most entertaining showdowns of all-time.
The rematch, however, showcased a Jon Jones who was on the warpath, desperate to reclaim the title he never lost. TKO’ing him brutally with ground-and-pound in the third-round, Jones seemed genuinely excited to restart his reign over the 205lb-rs and in a recent post to his official Instagram page, he strongly hinted that the rising talent that is Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith is next.
In the time since Smith has responded.

Smith burst onto the scene last year with successive finishes of Rashad Evans, Shogun Rua and most recently, Volkan Oezdemir and as a result would likely be the next in line for a shot at the belt.
