Jared Cannonier made a major step towards middleweight title contention with a second-round TKO of Sweden’s Jack Hermansson in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Since debuting at 185lbs last November, Cannonier has managed to rack off a trio of finishes – beating David Branch, Anderson Silva, and now, Hermansson to truly signal himself as a divisional top contender.
Once fighting as a heavyweight before dropping to light-heavyweight and now middleweight, Cannonier truly does seem to be finding his rhythm and at this point, will likely find himself within touching distance of the divisional belt if he can win his next matchup.
Facing the in-form Hermansson, some bright moments in the opening round for his opponent eventually gave way to a perfectly-timed uppercut in the second, one that sent The Joker to his back – allowing The Killa Gorilla to move in with a barrage of strikes.

Moving to 13-4 as a professional, the question now hangs over the identity of Jared’s next opponent but either way, he was quick to let the world know that he has well and truly arrived and is now very much a threat to the upper echelons of the division.
