James Gallagher has been signed for a tough matchup against his fellow rising talent Cal Ellenor, a figh that will headline Bellator Dublin in September.
Make no mistake, this is a matchup of two highly-rated prospects within the Bellator bantamweight roster.
Ellenor, who made a successful promotional debut against Nathan Greyson at Bellator Newcastle earlier this year, is a budding talent on the English scene that has managed to compile a 7-2 record ahead of this, the biggest fight of his career.
Gallagher really had his work cut out with Jeremiah Labiano at Bellator London, edging him out in a hard-fought decision – one that displayed a level of mettle to his game that hadn’t yet been shown to its fullest up until that point.
It was a win that solidified The Strabanimal current return to form and with him now on a two-fight streak of wins, his wish to return to the Irish capital has been granted by the Bellator brass.
Last time out, he managed to score a quick and dominant submission over Steven Graham in front of a crowd of his countrymen as he sat at the top of last February’s Bellator Dublin – a fight that was stood as the perfect rebound from his brutal defeat to Ricky Bandejas last year.
The clash between James Gallagher and Cal Ellenor will now serve as the headliner for Bellator’s return to the 3Arena on September 27 and will stand as James’ second headlining slot in the venue this year after February’s memorable Bellator 217.
