ESPN reported today that the UFC are looking at setting up a middleweight clash between rising phenom Israel Adesanya and the former champ, Anderson Silva.
Brett Okamoto reported first that UFC 234 could well host a 185lb clash between Adesanya and Silva, a fight that would mark the Brazilian legend’s first outing since February 2017.

Adesanya has been one of the year’s breakout stars and with his UFC 230 destruction of Derek Brunson, established himself as one of the front-runners to challenge the champion of the division next year, if all goes well.
A spot on UFC 234 would see Silva and Adesanya share the main-card with Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum – who will contest the middleweight belt in the night’s main-event.
The champion Whittaker represents both New Zealand and Australia and ‘The Last Stylebender’ fights out of New Zealand. So with UFC 234 set to take place in the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, it would be fitting to see two of the most revered fighters from the region competing.
