Alexander Gustafsson has released his first social media statement since his third-round TKO defeat to Jon Jones in the UFC 232 main-event.
Three defeats in three world-title fights doesn’t exactly spell the end of the road for Gus but all things considered, he’ll have a tough time at securing a shot at UFC gold any time soon – especially at 205lbs.
And while he seems open to the idea of moving up to heavyweight in the future – something he hinted at post-fight – he remains one of the finest light-heavyweights on the planet today. Jones simply had his number from the get-go.
It’s not as if there’s any shame in losing to a fighter like ‘Bones’, however. Who hasn’t?
For Jones, it’s looking increasingly likely that his next title-defense will be against the rising force that is Anthony Smith and whether you love him or hate him, it is good to see him attempting to recapture some of the momentum that he had lost in recent years.
After a week-long hiatus from social media, Gustafsson took to his official Instagram page to issue a statement on his most recent setback.
