Germaine de Randamie put her status as the #1 bantamweight contender beyond any doubt with a quick, albeit controversial, finish of Aspen Ladd.
GDR came into this one riding a four-fight win-streak and as she displayed with this win, she possesses all of the tools necessary to give the champ Amanda Nunes a tough fight – a fight that would stand as a rematch of their first meeting back in 2013, a fight that Nunes won.
In last night’s UFC Sacramento headliner, GDR managed to catch Ladd with a perfectly timed and executed right-hand, causing referee Herb Dean to jump in and call the contest to a halt – a call that was the subject of quite a bit of controversy directly afterwards.
Watch the finishing sequence for yourself and see what you think:
Germaine de Randamie stops Aspen Ladd in just seconds. Ladd seems to disagree with referee Herb Dean's decision to call the bout. ?#UFCSacramento pic.twitter.com/91F23BhDxs

Ladd didn’t seem to hold too much of a grudge towards Dean in the fight’s aftermath – speaking to MMAJunkie about the fight and her protests shortly after it was called off.
.@AspenLaddMMA doesn't blame Herb Dean's stoppage nor her rough weight cut for a 16-second loss to Germaine de Randamie. #UFCSacramento pic.twitter.com/430DBhknkI
