Justin Gaethje Vs. Al Iaquinta Reportedly Set For August 25

According to reports made by ESPN, the UFC have set a headlining showdown between Justin Gaethje and Al Iaquinta for a date in August.

UFC Lincoln could be in for an absolute treat as word comes in that two of the most electric competitors on the roster have been matched up for a headlining bout on the August 25 card.

Justin Gaethje’s three-fight run in the UFC has seen him emerge as one of the modern era’s best-loved stars and despite the fact that he has gone 1-2, each of his octagon outings to date has been an instant classic.

Last seen in action being viciously KO’d by Dustin Poirier, he himself has admitted that his style isn’t one that is built to ensure a long and fruitful career in the sport – putting a deadline of about five or so fights before inevitably hangs up his gloves.

For the man who will reportedly be his dance partner in August, Al Iaquinta, his newfound exposure after enduring a beating at the hands of the current-champ Khabib Nurmagomedov could well light a fire within him to finally make his push into title-contention.

Either way, the New York man’s reckless fighting style will ensure that this showdown – if it does, indeed, go ahead – will be amongst the year’s best and if both guys are at their respective peak levels of fitness – we may have a potential contender for Fight of the Year honours on paper.
