The legendary former-lightweight champion Frankie Edgar has finally broken his silence after being brutally KO’d by Brian Ortega at UFC 222
MMA can often be a sport where tensions flare between fans and fighters. Whether it’s the disagreements you see each and every day over social media or the genuine animosity that can be found between certain athletes, at times the world of mixed martial arts can be a mess of conflict and negativity.
So when the legendary Frankie Edgar finally met his maker in the form of Brian Ortega at UFC 222 last weekend, the outpour of respect for the former-lightweight champion in the days that followed truly was a testament to the best things about this sport.
Edgar, who had never once been finished in his professional career, was put away in stunning fashion by his opponent at the end of the very first round and while it was thrilling for us to witness the emergence of a new star at 145lbs, watching Frankie lose like that was tough for anyone who lived through his career.
Now, two days after Saturday’s co-main event fixture, ‘the Answer’ has made a statement to his friends and fans, promising us all that he will pick himself up and return before long.
Saturday did not go as planned, congrats to Ortega he definitely got me with some good ones. Thanks to all my peers, my team, my friends, and my fans for their nice words, they don't go unnoticed. All I can do now is dust myself off and get ready to put it all on the line again.

If anyone can bounce back in emphatic fashion, you best believe that it’s Frankie Edgar!
