Marc Diakiese came up some way short in his UFC Hamburg showdown with Nasrat Haqparast this evening.
Diakiese managed to earn himself some well-deserved hype on the back of some supremely athletic showings in his initial rise through the UFC but with him now 0-3 in his last three – he really is reaching panic stations.
At 25, time is most certainly on his side but even still, today’s showing against the hotly-tipped Haqparast didn’t see him manage to get his game going in the way one would have perhaps hoped.
Haqparast pressured the rangy English lightweight from the off and despite all of the buzz surrounding the hands of ‘The Bonecrusher’, for the most part – it was he who had the better of the exchanges.
The fight’s key moment came at the end of the second round when Haqparast almost managed to get the finish – and probably would have had the round ran for another 10-15 seconds.

Doubling up on Diakiese’s strikes landed on paper, it was a clear and well deserved victory on the scorecards for the Tristar product who at the young age of just 22-years-old, showed himself to be a very promising one to watch for the future.
