Edson Barboza and Kevin Lee will face off in a bout that could well have massive ramifications for the lightweight division at UFC Atlantic City.
The UFC just announced what we assume will be the main-event fixture for their next stop in Atlantic City and it could well be an absolute cracker.
Edson Barboza will look to put the memories of his last outing behind him when he steps in to take on the highly-touted Kevin Lee in the Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, New Jersey. UFC 219 saw Barboza emerge on the receiving end of one of the most one-sided beatings we have seen in some time at the hands of the unbeaten Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Fittingly, the man who Khabib faces next, Tony Ferguson, was also the guy to submit Edson’s co-headliner Kevin Lee in the third round of their UFC 215 meeting.
So with the division’s number-1 contender – or even undisputed champ (depending on who you believe) – to be decided at UFC 223, look to this matchup to potentially single out a new top contender in the promotion’s most stacked weight-class.

With the future of the champ Conor McGregor still shrouded in mystery and the lightweight pairing of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson yet to take place inside the octagon, the landscape at 155lbs will no doubt look at lot clearer by the time May arrives.
With the world-class muay-thai of Barboza pitted against the stunning athleticism of Lee, though, at least we can sit back and enjoy some of the world’s very best facing off over the course of what should be a truly special month for MMA.
