Eddie Alvarez overcame what looked like an injury to his leg to find the first-round submission victory over the veteran Eduard Folayang.
To his credit, the fan-favourite Folayang was able to time a perfect leg-kick to knock The Underground King completely off-balance, leaving him floored with what appeared to be an injury.
Raining down on him with a barrage of strikes, the fight appeared to be close to its conclusion before the famously tough Alvarez turned the tide dramatically.

After surviving the former champ’s onslaught, Alvarez somehow found his way to the back, sinking in the rear-naked choke that forced that tap – firmly repositioning him in the win-column.

After losing out in his promotional debut to Timofey Nastyukhin, many had questioned Eddie’s future in the sport and whether he would be able to continue to perform to the level that is expected of him.
And while this win was not without its tough moments, now, Alvarez finds himself in the finals of the ONE lightweight grand-prix with the opportunity to add one more championship belt to his vast collection.
