Eddie Alvarez Ruined By Tony Ferguson On Twitter, Stays Classy In His Response

The former champ and the interim champ engaged in a bit of a back and forth via Twitter on Friday, and though Tony Ferguson landed the bigger shots, it’s fair to say that Eddie Alvarez retained the moral high ground.

UFC 218 was a memorable show for a myriad of reasons but among the very best moments of the night was Eddie Alvarez’s thrilling knockout win of the former WSOF champion Justin Gaethje in a potential Fight of the Year candidate, one that earned Alvarez the ‘title’ of the UFC’s most violent man.

Alvarez, who hadn’t won a fight since defeating Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight belt last year, managed to claw his way back into the win column with one of the most impressive performances of his career. Despite the attempts of Gaethje to overwhelm him with constant pressure and vicious leg-kicks, Eddie was able to weather the storm before using his polished boxing to piece up ‘the Highlight’, mixing beautiful uppercuts with body-shots before putting his man away late in the third round.

UFC 205 saw Alvarez on the receiving end of one of the most one-sided title fights of all-time as the current champ Conor McGregor barely broke a sweat while taking him out via second-round TKO, but the manner in which he has bounced back from that low point has earned him a legion of new fans. However, we learned that the interim lightweight champ Tony Ferguson is not one of them.

The pair engaged in a brief exchange via Twitter, and though Ferguson had the more insulting remarks for the ‘Underground King’, Eddie was able to brush him off with a degree of class we’ve come to expect from him at this stage.
