Dustin Poirier Channels His Inner McGregor With Blunt Prediction For Eddie Alvarez Clash

Dustin Poirier has taken to Twitter to lay out a rather blunt prediction for his upcoming UFC 211 clash with the former champ, Eddie Alvarez.

The role that visualisation plays in the achievement of one’s goals is something that has become an increasingly prevalent factor in the preparation of mixed martial artists since the emergence of Conor McGregor in recent times.

Sure, self-belief and determination have always been the bread and butter of the world of combat sports but with McGregor’s rise came a reevaluation of the entire mental game and the significant impact it can have on both you and your opponent’s successes on any given day.

Poirier is a man who knows too well how the act of making public predictions can perhaps allow emotions to boil over to a certain extent and though he succumbed to the left hand of the Notorious One in the first round of their UFC 178 meeting in 2014, the idea that Conor seemed so unfazed by the fact that his first round KO prediction came to be must have been at least a bit impressive for him in hindsight.

With him now set to face off against another one of McGregor’s victims next month in Eddie Alvarez, the ‘Diamond’ has taken to Twitter to make his own prediction for their eagerly anticipated match-up and in its blunt delivery you can certainly see shades of his Irish former rival.
