Donald Cerrone has been confirmed to take on Justin Gaethje in the UFC Vancouver main-event, which is set to take place on September 14.
And what a clash it is!
It’s quite a fortunate piece of luck when the #4 and #5-ranked lightweights on the planet just so happen to be two of the most entertaining fighters to ever compete in the sport, something that makes this matchup perfect on every single level.
Cerrone was in the middle of something of a resurgence in form just prior to losing out by way of second-round doctor’s stoppage to the surging contender Tony Ferguson but now, he will have the perfect chance to re-establish his name in the title-conversation.
Gaethje, on the other hand, managed to blast through both James Vick and Edson Barboza in the first round to overturn a two-fight losing streak that in some ways, seemed to cause many to doubt his ability to hang with the best of the best.
As confirmed by UFC president Dana White, who spoke to Yahoo Sports recently, the fight will be contested over a mouthwatering five-rounds and could well see the eventual winner make a strong case for an eventual title-shot.
UFC on ESPN+ 16 which will take place on September 14 in the Rogers Arena, Vancouver, Canada and as of right now, will also feature matchups including the likes of Glover Teixeira, David Branch, Uriah Hall, and more.
