Donald Cerrone Releases Statement Following UFC 238 Defeat

Donald Cerrone has taken to his official Instagram page to release his first statement now that the dust settled in the wake of his UFC 238 loss to Tony Ferguson.

And while it lasted, it was a thrilling affair – exactly what you would expect from a pair of fighters as completely and utterly game as these two.

The second-round’s ending was one that caused quite a lot of controversy, however, after El Cucuy clearly struck Cerrone with a late shot after the bell.

Some have suggested that the shot was the one that primarily led to the damage to Cowboy’s nose, the very same nose that he attempted to unblock moments later, which caused his eye to swell.

There have been calls for a rematch between the two after the somewhat divisive finish to the fight (a decision we completely disagree with), but now, Cerrone himself has released a short statement expressing his excitement for the future – regardless of whether it contains another bout with Ferguson or not.

Well, it was his first statement since this rather funny effort.

All in all, it is no doubt a tough pill for the veteran legend to swallow. His surging run of late has been nothing short of awe-inspiring and yet, just like the eleven men who came before him, he found that facing Tony Ferguson is another proposition entirely.

Whether or not the UFC will run it back remains to be seen.
