Demetrious Johnson Shows His Class In Gritty Victory Over Tatsumitu Wada

Demetrious Johnson was forced to overcome some adversity in his ONE Lightweight Grand-Prix semi-final showdown against Tatsumitu Wada.

DJ remains one of the consensus greatest fighters to ever lace gloves but even with all of his immense technical skills, life in ONE Championship has been far from easy.

In fact, the argument could be made that Johnson is having a far tougher time against the bigger men of their bantamweight division than he ever did with the flyweights of the UFC.

As an early favourite to win ONE’s ongoing bantamweight grand-prix, Johnson has been forced to dig deep at every time of asking despite going 2-0 in the promotion and in today’s clash with Tatsumitu Wada, he spent quite a large portion of the fight in positions that he would never have found himself in back in the UFC.

Wada was able to effectively use a body-triangle to nullify Mighty Mouse for most of round one before using his strength to stifle him in the second.

From there, with a bit more urgency, DJ started to amp it up – wrestling his foe, stealing the momentum away before being awarded a unanimous decision victory.
