Daniel Cormier will apparently get his big-money dream-fight as the UFC move closer to signing a fight between him and Brock Lesnar for August.
Cormier will move himself within one win of Stipe Miocic’s record of three successful heavyweight title defences if he can overcome the challenge presented by the hulking WWE superstar Brock Lesnar.
According to a report turned in by AG Fight, the UFC are considering an August date for the blockbuster – a date that would give the defending champion enough time to get himself healed after his recent injuries struggles of late.
Originally the plan was for DC to hang up his gloves just prior to his 40th birthday in March but given his inactivity of late, he was forced to relent and push back his retirement for at least a while longer.
Last seen in action against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 in what was a dominant performance all things considered.
Cormier took that fight with a broken hand but still managed to shut his opponent’s offense down completely.
Now, despite the looming presence of Jon Jones and his seemingly inevitable move to heavyweight, the UFC are looking at August 17’s UFC 241 as the date to set DC up with the fight that should be the biggest payday of his career.
