Dana White has confirmed that the legendary Brazilian Cris Cyborg will no longer be fighting under the UFC banner following the expiration of her contract.
The relationship between Cris and her employers has been strained since day one, given the rather rough history that existed between both parties during the days where Ronda Rousey ruled the UFC and Cyborg was the sitting champion at Strikeforce.
The feud between Justino and the UFC president has in many ways been the main talking point within the world of MMA in the last week or so and unsurprisingly, Cyborg’s repeated run-ins with the boss have seemingly been enough to see the UFC opt-out.
Speaking to Laura Sanko in a recent interview, Dana explained how he will not be making an attempt to resign Cris Cyborg and as of right now, she is free to pursue other options.
“I’m gonna release her from her contract, I will not match any offers, she is free and clear to go to Bellator or any of these other organizations and fight these easy fights that she wants. Done. Done deal.
“I will literally, today, have my lawyers draft a letter to her team that she is free and clear to go wherever she wants. We’re out of the Cyborg business.”
