Dana White Warns Jon Jones To Take Israel Adesanya Threat Seriously

The UFC president has urged the light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones not to underestimate the threat posed to him by middleweight star, Israel Adesanya.

And for anyone else but the legendary light-heavyweight champ, the rangy, technical, striking master that is Adesanya would be an absolute nightmare.

Jones, of course, is cut from a completely different cloth – a truly unique puzzle that has only shown weakness in brief moments inside the octagon so far.

The idea of a matchup between these stars is one that could well interest the UFC – especially given the fact that The Last Stylebender could soon find himself with the middleweight strap around his waist by year’s end.

When asked by TMZ about his interest in a showdown between Adesanya and Jones, Dana White, of course, stressed how tough a fight Robert Whittaker is going to be for the interim-champ at UFC 244, but also gave him credit as a potentially tough matchup for the 205lb king in the future.

I do. But you know, Israel needs to focus on [Whittaker]. He’s fighting a bad dude and he needs to worry about that fight.

“I don’t know, we’ll find out. I mean, if he beats Robert Whittaker, he’s a very, very dangerous guy and a guy Jones needs to take serious.”

At this point, Jones seems to be in the process of clearing out the light-heavyweight division and while the weight-class has seen a new injection of life in recent times – who knows if he will be still fighting at 205lbs once the opportunity comes to take on Adesanya if it does eventually arrive.

With the prospect of a heavyweight clash against Daniel Cormier still a very real possibility in the future of the (practically) unbeaten Bones, only time will tell how likely seeing Jones vs. Adesanya actually is.
