Dana White addressed the media following UFC 230 last night and explained how he spoke to Conor McGregor for an hour last week.
We’re just under a month removed from the unforgettable UFC 229. Of course, the melee that followed the night’s main-event is still fresh in the memory but as time goes on, we’re slowly focussing more on the fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor and less on the circus that surrounded it.
Conor didn’t get an opportunity to divulge to us his thoughts on the fight from a competitive standpoint directly after the fight but revealed through an Instagram post that he willing to fight a top-contender to earn his shot.
Dana White spoke to the media after UFC 230 and explained how he and the Irishman spent an hour speaking about his next move.
“Conor and I talked for an hour last week. And typical Conor.
“‘I would love an immediate rematch, I want to fight him again.
“‘But I’ll fight whoever I got to fight to get back to him if that’s not the case.
“We’re on the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s time now. We’re waiting until November… or December. Whenever that thing is.
“And when that thing plays out, then we’ll know where we sit and then we’ll know what’s next.”
Whether the meeting was in person or over the phone remains unclear but if one thing is for certain it’s that we could well be seeing the former two-weight world champion inside the octagon next year once again as he attempts to earn his shot at redemption.
