Dana White Voices His Doubts Over Conor McGregor’s Fighting Future

The UFC president has spoken about his uncertainty over the future of Conor McGregor as a fighter, citing his recent payday, earned by fighting Floyd Mayweather as a factor.

Dana White is a man who is known for his use of over-exaggeration, misdirection and sometimes plain out lying but in a recent interview Kevin Iole of YahooSports, he seemed to be genuinely unsure and uncertain of the next move of his most valuable asset.

Conor McGregor has cut a pretty quiet figure in recent times as far as actual fighting in concerned. Sure, we’ve all read the news headlines, the speculation and the sometimes off-putting antics but really, I think the world as a whole just needs to get something concrete from the Irishman at this stage.

It has now been over a year since he fought and defeated Eddie Alvarez in what was the most polished and technical performance of his career at UFC 205, but now, with the weight of the lightweight belt on his shoulders, no one can know for sure if the ‘Notorious one’ has any intention of defending his 155lb strap against the interim-champion Tony Ferguson.

$100 million is a lot of money to make for one night’s work and in the aforementioned interview with Iole of YahooSports, the UFC’s president White – a man who often seems at least able to feign insight into the mind of McGregor – made it clear that he has no idea what the Irishman will do next, or if he will even do anything.

Of course, only time will tell what McGregor will do but with the collective patience of the MMA world now growing thinner by the day and the vultures who line the ranks of the lightweight division eagerly waiting, perhaps we will get some more definitive news concerning the champ before the year is out.

Hopefully, the news will be good.
