Daniel Cormier is now officially the world’s P4P number-1 fighter according to the UFC’s rankings.
Demetrious Johnson’s run as the UFC’s top fighter pound-for-pound officially came to an end following the formerly-ranked #5 Daniel Cormier’s stunning first-round KO of Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 last weekend.
Cormier now stands as just the second man to ever win two belts in two weight-classes and hold them simultaneously. Conor McGregor was, of course, the first and in this week’s rankings – he dropped behind Tony Ferguson as the #2-ranked 155lb contender as well as to joint-third on the P4P.
For DC, it’s a well-deserved honour, though.
To hold belts in the two divisions where there is the slightest margin for error is a simply amazing accomplishment. Doing it by defeating the most successful heavyweight champion in the promotion’s history is another thing entirely.
