Conor McGregor has dipped into the annals of pop-culture history for his latest dig at his Russian opponent, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
As soon as McGregor hinted that he would like to face Nurmagomedov in his home-country of Russia, we were instantly bombarded with people drawing parallels between that hypothetical fight and the fourth entry to the popular boxing franchise Rocky.
In Rocky IV, Stallone takes a fight with the fearsome Russian powerhouse Ivan Drago after witnessing him killing his friend and training partner Apollo Creed inside the ring.
Drago, who is played by Swedish actor Dolph Lundgren, famously utters the famous line ‘if he dies, he dies’ as the film’s title character, played by Sylvester Stallone, holds the dying Creed in his arms.
Never one to miss out on an opportunity to get creative, Conor took to his official Instagram account with his own take on the phrase.
We still haven’t seen anything in the way of an actual press conference that would see both Khabib and McGregor come face to face, but trust us, it’s coming.
