Conor McGregor has made one of his most direct attacks on Floyd Mayweather to date and makes a point of revisiting an old favourite in the process.
The UFC’s lightweight champion Conor McGregor has made yet another direct jab at his upcoming opponent Floyd Mayweather recently, this time in a manner that pays homage to one of his earlier quotes that has gained some notoriety of its own in recent times.
Back in 2014, when Conor was taking on the no. 5-ranked featherweight in the world Dustin Poirier, he guaranteed each and every member of the media and his fanbase that it would be a first-round KO win in his favour and sure enough, when the octagon doors closed, the job was done in less than two minutes.
The public were shocked to see such a quick resolution to what had been billed as a tough between two contenders but when McGregor took the mic off of Joe Rogan, he bestowed on himself a nickname that would carry on through to this very day.
Now, with him scheduled to face boxing’s Floyd Mayweather on August 26th, McGregor has taken to his Instagram page to post a very direct attack on his opponent, one that throws back to his famous in-octagon quote from all the way back in 2014. The nickname ‘Mystic Mac’ is one that has become iconic in its own right in recent years and with many waiting eagerly to see if McGregor can pull it off once more in the most dramatic of fashions, this latest post does a good job of hammering home that fact that we are very much down to business as far as hyping this fight is concerned.
McGregor is pictured in front of the newly-painted mural in his custom-made boxing gym for his fight-camp, and though many are giving him no chance against a man of Floyd’s experience and pedigree, those who understand the Irishman will know that the visualisation process is one as important to him as any physical training he might undergo at any point in his preparations for this fight.
