Colby Covington Blast’s Jorge Masvidal’s ‘Scum Management’

Colby Covington has take a shot at the Kawa brothers, claiming that they are trying to turn his friend Jorge Masvidal against him.

The pair have a long history and as far as people Colby can point to as allies, Masvidal stands as perhaps the most high-profile of the few, given the rather vocal top-contender’s penchant for pushing the buttons of his fellow welterweights.

Ahead of his UFC Newark clash with the former champion Robbie Lawler tonight, Covington spoke to MMAFighting about how being scheduled to fight Jorge, if it ever did happen, would have no effect on their ability to train together.

With that being said, he cited the famed managerial brothers Abraham and Malki Kawa as a likely hindrance to this ever happening, going as far as to say that the two are trying to turn Gamebred against him.

“Honestly, I could definitely train with him the whole training camp and help him and just to get ready for me. I’ll show him my wrestling, he knows all my stuff and I know all his stuff.

“I wouldn’t have a problem with it but I think him and his management, the Kawa’s, the scum Kawa brothers [Malki and Abraham] would have a problem with it. Those guys are the shadiest in the business and they’ve tried to turn him against me.”

Colby’s confidence in taking on one of his old training partners is something that he will be able to bring with him to the octagon later tonight when he takes on Robbie Lawler in the UFC Newark main-event.

Continuing on, Chaos explained why he doesn’t see Masvidal as someone who could actively train with someone he was about to fight, citing the personal edge to his approach as something they don’t share.

“I wouldn’t have a problem with it but I think he would have a problem with it. He needs to make fights personal to go out there and if he needs to make this personal just for one fight and we do business then we become friends the next day, I understand that because this is the fight business.”
