Cerrone Beats Down Iaquinta, Calls Out Conor McGregor

Donald Cerrone has now won three fights in a row – with this most recent victory over Al Iaquinta perhaps his most impressive of the lot.

‘Dad’ Cerrone, as he refers to himself, has found a new lease of life inside the octagon since the birth of his son.

Those three wins have seen him defeat an increasingly high level of competition with each passing outing and now, he has picked up his biggest victory of the lot – a strong and action-packed defeat of Al Iaquinta in the UFC Ottawa main-event.

Both guys made their intentions known early as Iaquinta pushed the pace from the get-go but as the fight went on it was Cerrone who started to find the momentum.

Make no mistake, though, this Fight Of The Night-winning showcase was a war and both men can leave with their heads held high.

One beautifully timed front-kick from Cowboy stood as perhaps the best moment of the fight.

And here’s another angle.

The final flurry showcased both guys swinging for whatever advantage they could garner and it was Cerrone who ended the fight on top.

Taking to the mic in the fight’s direct aftermath, Cerrone called out the former divisional champion Conor McGregor for a clash on the 4th of July.

“I want the title, whatever that means. Unless Conor McGregor, you want to fight me in July. I’m ready, 4th of July, let’s do it.”

We’ve speculated about that fight earlier this week and why it’s a lot more likely than most believe it to be. You can read that piece here.
