Brendan Schaub broke down exactly what happened after a video emerged of him having a minor row with UFC lightweight Nate Diaz backstage after the Mayweather-McGregor fight last weekend.
Both Nate Diaz and his older brother Nick are not exactly known for their cool-headedness, in fact, the brothers Diaz have been involved in some of the most entertaining feuds and public disputes in the history of mixed martial arts. It’s not that they’re mean-spirited people by any stretch of the imagination but instead, they’re simply products of a lifestyle and upbringing that has made them unapologetically ‘real’, in the eyes of many.
There’s no bulls**t with the Diaz brothers, they will tell you exactly how they feel about something the moment that they feel it and if you call them out on that, then getting a middle finger in reply will probably be the least of your worries.
Despite all this, they still have a strong following and in truth, seem like good guys but one man who perhaps crossed the line with one of Stockton’s finest last weekend was the former UFC heavyweight and all round MMA personality Brendan Schaub, who was caught on camera getting into a rather heated exchange with Nate following Conor McGregor’s ten-round effort against the legendary Floyd Mayweather in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Now, following an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Schaub explained in more detail exactly what happened that night and truth be told, there was probably enough prodding done on both sides to justify the tension, something that history will tell us ain’t the smartest idea when you’re facing down someone of Nate’s disposition.
I suppose, when considering the UFC’s more recent emphasis on securing ‘big-money fights’ – sometimes in favour of the ones that make sense – why not set these two up for a showdown at December’s UFC 218?
Hell, you even slap an interim-title on the line if you really want.
