Michael Johnson filled in for Zubaira Tukhugov on short-notice to face Artem Lobov and was unable to make the 146lb limit ahead of UFC Moncton.
Coming in just 1lb over, Johnson would have forfeited 20% of his fight-purse to Lobov if the SBG Ireland man hadn’t already refused to accept it due to the circumstances surrounding the bout’s booking.

Given the fact that MJ was filling in for Zubaira Tukhugov on short-notice, I suppose it’s understandable from him, but commendable all the same from ‘The Russian Hammer’.
‘The Menace’ tipped the scales at 147lbs today but the event’s co-main offering will not be affected.
I’m told @RusHammerMMA went up to Johnson afterwards and said he will make sure MJ gets the full 20% back bc he is appreciative of the fact that MJ took the fight on short notice. The rules are Lobov has to take the money but he gave Johnson his word he’ll get it back to him.

Their UFC Moncton showdown will go ahead as planned and for both men, it will stand as a crucial indicator of both their standing within the 145lb division and the UFC as a whole.
