Bellator MMA have confirmed nine of the fighters that will take part in their upcoming welterweight grand-prix.
The grand-prix format is making a comeback and boy, does it look like Bellator are on to something here.
Today, the lineup for their 170lb tournament has been announced and on paper, it really does seem as though we are in for a treat.
With the champion Rory MacDonald now confirmed to be an active participant after his September showdown with middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi, the lineup will read as follows.
And later, a ninth fighter in the 20-0 Ukranian Yaroslav Amosov was announced.
This leaves the door open for hard-hitting Brit Paul Daley to agree on a deal and involve himself.
The opening round of fights have been yet to be confirmed but regardless, this still marks the biggest move the Scott Coker-run promotion have made in recent times – one will see them risk some of the brightest stars in their most stacked division, instead of placing the emphasis on the spectacle.
