Another landmark event in the history of Irish MMA is upon us and with that in mind, we’ve made up a list of everything you’ll need to know going in.
When is it on?
Bellator Dublin will take place today, Friday, September 27.
Where is it on?
The 3Arena, N Wall Quay, North Dock, Dublin 1, Ireland
The event will be headlined by the return of Strabane’s James Gallagher, who was originally set to face English prospect Cal Ellenor before his opponent was forced to withdraw from the contest. As a result, The Strabanimal will take on the former UFC bantamweight, Roman Salazar.
A matchup of huge proportions will lie below the top-billed offering as Ireland’s Richard Kiely takes on the superstar Michael ‘Venom’ Page and with the addition of several icons of the nation’s scene, there’s every chance that February’s special Bellator event in the Irish capital could be surpassed by the time all is said and done on the night.
Kiely really does have the opportunity to shoot his name into the MMA stratosphere with a win here and while he is the major underdog coming in, he will know that he possesses all of the tools necessary to spring the upset.
The Bellator 227 portion of the event will also feature an appearance from the former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson – who will take on his fellow veteran Myles Jury.
