SBG Ireland’s Artem Lobov came up short against Michael Johnson in UFC Moncton’s entertaining featherweight co-main event fixture.
And it was a well-fought encounter between the two.
The speed and length of Johnson made it a relatively comfortable night for him, though. Artem was in there from the first bell to the last but couldn’t find the target enough to sway the judges in the end.
Upon hearing the 30-27 scorecard given by one of the three officials ringside, Lobov expressed his confusion. Out of the three rounds, the second was indeed the closest – as Johnson seemingly looked to conserve his energy before rebounding in the third.
‘The Menace’ took the fight on short-notice after The Russian Hammer’s original opponent, Zubaira Tukhugov was pulled from the fight after his involvement in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl.
Leaving the arena in Moncton, Artem was a picture of disappointment after what was a competitive but clear-cut defeat.
