Cub Swanson Absolutely Roasts Artem Lobov On Twitter, Shows Interest In Facing Him In A Bout

UFC featherweights Cub Swanson & Artem Lobov have once again exchanged barbs via Twitter, but this time, the possibility of seeing them face off inside the octagon may well be a more realistic one.

Artem “The Russian Hammer” Lobov has made his career on the back of being the type of fighter who is in it simply for the thrill of combat. His record (13-12-1) does suggest a major level of inconsistency but if you ask the man himself, he will tell you that his fearless attitude towards his own matchmaking has seen him establish himself as one of European MMA’s most well-travelled and un-picky competitors.

Late last year, in the wake of UFC 206, he made a rather forward callout in an interview with SevereMMA to both of the card’s standout performers, Doo-ho Choi and the victor Cub Swanson, one that was quickly turned down by the creative striker whose hand was raised on the night.

Cub Swanson or ‘The Korean Superboy’ would be a really good fight,” Artem said, “Their last fight was great and I really think I match up well against either of those guys. I really think that would be a good one. With Cub especially, I think that would be a very big fight for London. I think the fans would like to see me in there with ‘The Korean Superboy’ in London as well.”

And that seemed to be that for the short-lived dispute between Killer Cub and the Russian Hammer. With Cub’s attention now fixed on perhaps his last run at a UFC belt, Artem would be left to face another man in his attempt to extend his current winning streak to three.

However, today, after a fairly dismissive comment made by Swanson about Artem’s training partner and long-term friend Conor McGregor, the sparks between the two began to fly once more, and this time, it may well have boiled over to such an extent that it could very well lead to us seeing a matchup between these two hard-hitting featherweights at some point in the near future.

Though the fight is nothing more than an idea at this point, it would appear that Cub Swanson has landed the heavier blows early on. Whether or not the Russian can bring the hammer down on the veteran if they do ever meet inside the octagon remains to be seen.
