The former UFC light-heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson has called for a shot at the Cuban former-Olympian Yoel Romero.
Following Dana White’s revelation that he would like to see Yoel Romero fighting at light-heavyweight in the near future, fans have been reeling at the prospect of seeing the former title-challenger in matchups against some of the division’s very best.
Romero, of course, missed weight by a total of 0.2lbs ahead of his UFC 225 matchup with Robert Whittaker, making him ineligible for a championship title win and with the consistent controversies that have surrounded the practice of weight-cutting in recent times, many assumed that his time spent as a middleweight would be over.
And while Dana didn’t exactly say that Yoel was through at 185lbs, one would have to think that he will be on the receiving end of some serious pressure to make the step up.
As for who exactly he would among the bigger men? Well, Alexander ‘the Mauler’ Gustafsson sent out the following tweet after resigning himself to the fact that he probably will not face champion Daniel Cormier in a rematch of their first offering this year.

Alexander Gustafsson versus Yoel Romero. That sounds like a pretty sellable fight to us. In a division in desperate need of a fresh injection of talent, the likes of Romero and possibly even Luke Rockhold moving up to bolster its ranks could serve as the breath of fresh air the weight-class has been asking for.
