Conor McGregor’s humble roots are explored in greater detail in the latest of snippets from his upcoming film, ‘Conor McGregor: Notorious’.
“We’d want to start making some money, can’t even afford a head-guard at the moment. I was going to ask you do ya have a spare one?”
That was the half-jokingly thrown out question asked by Conor McGregor’s SBG Ireland team-mate and then-Cage Warriors welterweight champion Cathal Pendred as the pair prepared for a sparring session.
It might seem hard to believe now, but this was the reality that the bonafide superstar that is the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor lived each and every day before his meteoric rise to the top of the sporting world.
Of course, he would later go on to be signed by the UFC and face off against streaking featherweight fighter Marcus Brimage in Sweden but at the time this clip was shot, McGregor was nothing more than a talented up-and-comer, albeit one absolutely brimming with confidence.
The clip, which contains some genuinely eye-opening insights into McGregor’s roots – as well as some brief sparring, can be viewed in full below.
