Following his equalising goal against Poland last night, Shane Long spoke to the FAI about how it felt to come on and save Ireland from what would have been a crushing defeat.
Long also spoke about the fact that James McClean’s tackle on Arkadiusz Milik was one of the turning points in the game and it notched up the atmosphere within the Aviva Stadium.
When asked about what he makes of the group after last night’s result, Long spoke of how it’s still in Ireland’s own hands as they bid to qualify for Euro 2016.
“It keeps us right in the mix. Losing three points to them, going three points behind them would’ve been a big gap to try and claw back but we’re still right in touching distance now.
“We’ve kept it in our hands, we don’t have to rely on other results. We can bring teams here and hopefully get the three points and move right up the table.”
