Striker Rory Patterson Leaves Derry City

Derry City have today announced that Striker Rory Patterson has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Last month City announced that both Patterson and defender Shane McEleney were both placed on the transfer list. City gave both players permission to speak to Limerick and Shamrock Rovers but nothing has come from that, as of yet.

However, there have been developments today with striker Patterson releasing a statement via his Twitter account confirming that he has had his contract with the club cancelled.

An interesting note to take from the statement released by Patterson today is that he didn’t thank any of the three managers who he worked under at City.

Patterson boasted an incredible record at Derry, scoring 54 goals in 77 games for the club.

Derry City have released a short statement thanking Patterson for his services to the club.

“Derry City FC would like to thank Rory Patterson for his commitment and service during his time with the club,” read the statement, “As a club we would also like to wish him well in his future whatever he decides to do.”
