Pat Fenlon has added three players to his Shamrock Rovers squad with less than a week until the big kick-off in the form of Max Blanchard, Tim Clancy and Gareth McCaffrey, the club have announced.
Blanchard joins the Hoops having spent much of his career in his native France with clubs such as Stade Laval, Entente SSG and AS Moulins, before moving onto lower league English sides, Tranmere Rovers and Plymouth Argyle.
The 28-year-old has lined out for the Hoops already during pre-season against L.A. Galaxy, Shelbourne and SK Brann, in which he has featured in defence as well as midfield.
19-year-old Gareth McCaffrey has also signed for the Hoops with pre-season experience under his belt, featuring in four games already for Rovers. Having played for Shelbourne and Stella Maris in his native Dublin as a youth, McCaffrey joins the Tallaght outfit after playing for Hibernian’s under-2os in a centre-forward role.
The final signing Fenlon has made is Tim Clancy, who has most recently featured in the Scottish Premiership with St. Johnstone.
Trim-born Clancy made a name for himself at Millwall over ten years ago before falling into non-league football. He was however signed by Kilmarnock from AFC Hornechurch in 2007 and from there he has also featured for Motherwell and the aforementioned St. Johnstone.
The 30-year-old right-back adds a significant amount of experience to Fenlon’s 2015 squad.
