Having previously heard word of Richie Towell being close to a move to Blackpool, it now looks as though the 23-year-old may be set to join up with former Sligo Rovers boss Ian Baraclough at Motherwell in January, according to the Herald Scotland.
Towell was instrumental to Dundalk’s title win last season. Scoring with ease from midfield as well dictating play in the middle of the park. His level of performance in 2014 was always going to attract interest from other clubs, including Cardiff City and, as mentioned, Blackpool.
The midfielder is no stranger to Scotland, having been at Celtic and Hibernian in the past. The 23-year-old could be joining one of the league’s most decorated managers of the last number of years if he is to move on from the Lilywhites.
Baraclough has big plans for the Scottish Premiership club and although the Motherwell faithful may not be aware of the talent of Towell at present, if he is to move he will offer a consistent creative outlet and a devastating attacking threat from midfield for Motherwell.
