Derry City are expected to announce that playmaker Barry McNamee has re-signed for the club.
McNamee was expected to leave the Candystripes after holding talks with representatives of both St.Patrick’s Athletic and Sligo Rovers.
McNamee also travelled to Fleetwood Town for a weeks trial but that proved to be unsuccessful after he picked up an ankle injury eight minutes into a behind-closed-doors game.
Speaking to local media outlet the Londonderry Sentinel, McNamee had the following to say on his new two year deal
“The trial in England didn’t go according to plan after picking up the injury, so the last three or four weeks have been a long few weeks trying to make my decision,” he stated.
“I changed my mind numerous times, maybe three or four times a day over the last few weeks, so I’m happy to have finally got it done, so that I can rest up now over Christmas and get back at it in the New Year.”
