Dundalk have confirmed the signing of Jake Kelly from Bray Wanderers.
Kelly started his playing career with Bray in 2008, staying at the club until 2011. In 2012 the 24-year-old signed with St Patrick’s Athletic but moved back to the Seagulls at the beginning of last season.
Kelly helped Bray just avoid relegation as they finished one point ahead of UCD in 2014.
Quoted on Dundalk’s official website, Kelly alludes to how Dundalk’s style of play attracted him to the club.
“I am absolutely delighted to have signed. It’s great to have it sorted. Stephen sold the club to me when I met him a few weeks ago and I am really excited to be part of it. They’re the champions and I was in talks with a few other clubs but I really wanted to come here after talking to Stephen and I’m glad to have it all done.
“They played the best football in the league last year and they were worthy champions. They were great to watch last year and that was a big factor in my decision to come here. The style of play is something that I want to be part of and I really can’t wait to get going now. I know everyone says that but I really can’t wait for pre-season to start and get into it.”
