The draw for the second round of this year’s EA Sports Cup took place at FAI Headquarters on Wednesday.

The first two rounds of the competition are again being run on a regional basis, which sees the first round consisting of four pools of six teams. In this round, the two sides who received byes in the previous round were in the draw with the winners of the two games in the first round of their pool.

In Pool 1, Cork City will face the winners of Waterford United vs Rockmount, a tie that will be played out on Monday, 28th March. In the other tie in Pool 1, Limerick play host to Wexford Youths. Wexford received a bye in the first round while Limerick ran out 4-2 winners away to Cobh Ramblers.

In Pool 2, Derry City will face Sligo Rovers after both sides received byes in the first round while Galway United play host to Finn Harps meaning there are two all-Premier Division fixtures in the second pool. Goals from Ethan Boyle in the first half was enough to see Harps defeat fellow Donegal side Cockhill Celtic.

Bray Wanderers, victors away to UCD in the last round, will play host to LSL side Bluebell United. Bluebell will be looking to defeat yet another SSE Airtricity League side having defeated Drogheda United 4-3 on penalties following a 0-0 draw after extra time.
